https://pitchfork.com/news/daft-punk-call-it-quits/Daft Punk, the Parisian duo responsible for some of the most popular dance and pop songs ever made, have split. They broke the news with an 8-minute video titled “Epilogue,” excerpted from their 2006 film Electroma. Asked if Daft Punk were no more, their longtime publicist Kathryn Frazier confirmed the news to Pitchfork but gave no reason for the breakup.
This is a little depressing, but I can respect them wrapping things up on their own terms. Daft Punk is definitely in the top 5 of my favorite music and has long defined a lot of what I listened to, and still listen to today.
I think I will have to watch Interstella 5555 one more time, maybe even my original DVD copy.
If you don't have that available, give this a watch as tribute instead! (Or as well?!)
The saddest part for myself is that I'll never get to see them perform live unless they reunite in the future, it was definitely a bucket list item for me. I suppose nothing lasts forever.
